Why “It Is Well”?

If you’re familiar with the hymn, you might recognize these words:

“When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll, whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say: it is well, it is well, with my soul.”

This business is named for my great-grandmother’s favorite hymn. It reminds me that while aging can be beautiful, it can also be unpredictable, painful, and incredibly hard. My faith anchors me in the belief that even in the midst of sorrow, peace is possible — and we are not alone.

Family Testimonials

Hear From Families I've Supported

  • “Dr. Katie has been in invaluable resource helping navigate an elderly parent’s multiple, significant health issues.  She easily interfaced with multiple specialists and helped decipher very complicated diagnoses.  She also helped organize the significant list of medications to make sure everything is being administered correctly.  Doctor’s visits are also attended to help make sure that communication to the doctor or PA is correct and that information and diagnosis given is received accurately.  She’s been invaluable helping navigate the very complicated health system and is a strong and respected advocate for her patients.”

  • “Just recently, my ninety one year old father went into the emergency room with heart issues. I was so thankful for Kaitlin’s positive skillset and patient, loving care as she helped me navigate through the healthcare system. That navigation can be so complicated and lonely! She asked the correct questions, stayed engaged with the procedures that were being done, and reassured my Father each day of the care he was being given. She also “coached” family members on different questions or situations that arose during his hospital stay. Kaitlin always remained positive and calm and had a loving and caring approach to what she did! Kaitlin is a wonderful advocate for your elderly loved one, and a team player for the entire family.”

  • “Kaitlin was extremely helpful as we navigated things after my mom’s cancer diagnosis. She listened carefully, and explained in a clear and concise manner what to expect and plan for. Specifically, she helped determine whether it made sense to continue care at home or in a hospice facility. She also was a huge comfort as we came to the end of my mom’s journey. She prepared us for what was coming, and also how to manage this difficult situation. Her knowledge about this, and her compassionate nature, made navigating this situation easier for myself and my siblings.”

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

I know how hard it is to navigate health care when someone you love is at the center of it. These questions come up often, and I hope the answers help you feel a little more grounded as you find your way forward.

See All FAQs
  • Can you attend medical appointments with my loved one?

Yes — when possible, I can attend in-person visits locally or join virtually. I attend as a second set of ears and eyes, help ask questions, and ensure you understand next steps. I do not speak on behalf of the client without their consent.

  • Can you prescribe medications or serve as our medical provider?

No. I am a nurse practitioner by training, but in this consulting role I do not prescribe, diagnose, or act as a primary care provider. I support and advocate around your existing medical care — I don’t replace it.

  • Do you take insurance?

No. All services are private pay. I do not bill insurance or Medicare. This allows me to focus fully on your needs — not billing codes — and offer personalized care planning, coordination, and advocacy on your terms.

  • Can you help with assisted living or home care decisions?

Yes. I can help you evaluate options, gather information about providers or facilities, and think through transitions such as home to assisted living or rehab to long-term care.
